Criteria:
Demonstrate in practice their knowledge and understanding of how students learn

Key Indicators:
  • enable students to make connections between their prior experiences and learning and their current learning activities
  • provide opportunities and support for students to engage with, practise and apply new learning to different contexts
  • encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour
  • assist students to think critically about information and ideas and to reflect on their learning

What this means at Halcombe School:
  • Provide learning opportunities that are varied and challenging
  • Develop a supportive classroom where students are active participants in the learning process
  • Student goals are current including in the Key Competencies
  • Provide opportunities for students to reflect on learning, set success criteria and set new goals
  • Establish clear boundaries and expectations for behaviour
  • Establish clear, appropriate class routines that are understood and used consistently
  • Model positive interactions with students, parents and colleagues
  • Gather prior knowledge and use this as a basis for future teaching

Term 1 2017
Students are constantly being asked to reflect on their learning. In Room 5, we complete all of our reflections in our ROCK books.
