Analyse and appropriately use assessment information, which has been gathered formally and informally

Key Indicators:
  • analyse assessment information to identify progress and ongoing learning needs of students
  • use assessment information to give regular and ongoing feedback to guide and support further learning
  • analyse assessment information to reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching
  • communicate assessment and achievement information to relevant members of the learning community
  • foster involvement of whānau in the collection and use of information about the learning of students

What this means at Halcombe School:
  • Planning is based on current assessment information
  • Assessment information is shared with students through regular specific feedback
  • Develop systems for students to track their own progress
  • Keep clear and organised records of all assessments
  • Complete all formal assessments and reporting requirements in a timely manner
  • Ensure parents can access students current achievement and progress easily; informal chats, students’ books, wall displays, blogs, students’ explanations of their learning
