23rd February 2017
I communicate with parents on a regular basis to both inform them of issues as well as celebrate the positives. Here is an example of communication with parents:
February 2017
I communicate regularly with parents/caregivers re any issues, to share goals, or just general updates on their child's school life and learning. I do this as I feel it is really important for parents to be involved in their children's education. This helps parents to know that I am approachable and that I am always contactable to discuss their child. It keeps my rapport with parents fresh and positive. Something I would like to improve on with notes via KIT books is trying to make them even more regular, though this is difficult with a time factor. This is a summary of one discussion/meeting:
** General Comment **
Meet with *, re an incident at school on Thursday 23rd Feb. Notes for this incident are in cause for concern. Further, we discussed how * is getting on in the classroom -especially in writing. I informed * of the extra support I am putting into * with his writing tasks and how difficult it is for * to start when the page is empty. We discussed supporting * to organise his ideas etc to allow him to get started more quickly.

For the 2nd year now, I am also coaching the Halcombe B netball team, who play on Monday nights at Vautier Park. See PTC 5 for reflection.
11th April 2017
Today in our staff meeting, we gathered in our teams to explore and brainstorm ideas for our next unit, Maori tikanga. Once we had done this in our senior and junior teams we shared our idea pages with each other. This is an example of us taking part in collaborative planning and sharing of ideas/resources.
